Hi everyone.
A new project I've been working on with Craig Davey is live. It was actually at the same stage a month ago, but I haven't had the time to work on it in a while, so we figured the best thing to do is to release it while I finish up some other contracts and let other people check it out. http://ourparliament.ca http://notreparlement.ca It's in the same space as Howdtheyvote, but I haven't found a good way of helping out on that project, and I feel that we really need to knock this one (federal legislature + voting) out of the park so that we have a great example of what CivicAccess is. Feel free to give comments / criticism. Its great to see all the activity on the list, btw. :) Mike |

Will you guys be maintaining your own data set, or would you consume our data feed if we expose it? I'm leaning towards a reputation system with versioning for labeling bills (and beyond), and a submit/review process for newbies. Cheers, Cory. |

As long as somebody does a kick-ass version of this. > Will you guys be maintaining your own data set, or would you consume our > data feed if we expose it? > dunno. I guess it depends on what work you think you'll be able to put in over the next year. It would be good to specialize a bit. I've been spending a bunch of time with ApathyisBoring (on their board) so I keep on coming back to the idea of having a sexy + easy to understand system at all levels (fed, provincial + municipal) but the federal one done really well will have the most impact to help us all. > I'm leaning towards a reputation system with versioning for labeling bills > (and beyond), and a submit/review process for newbies. > That sounds exciting. At Daniel H's request, the code is now on
http://github.com/eigentone/ourparliament-notreparlement and here's a mockup Craig and I worked on: http://mockups.ourparliament.ca/PaulDewar.png It's to show the direction of some citizen-facing tools. Incorporating Hansard info with other info. Kind of like the stuff Robin is working on. But much much prettier. :-p (Robin is never big on UI).
