As an update, over 50 MP candidates have signed up to ibelieveinopen.ca, including one Liberal. The current voter to candidate signup ratio is nearly 2:1. :-)

It would be in the best interest of some candidates to sign up and email supporters in their district, asking for the message to be forwarded. Both the Greens and NDP have had a lot of sign-ups, and it could help them to have voters sign this, only to see the Tories lag on the issue or not sign. That of course assumes that some of their strategists are keen enough to notice this potential. And hey, if the Tories don't want this used as political points against them, they could all sign up and follow the pledge. d. |

i just emailed all the candidates in my riding, plus marc garneau
(whom i met a few wks ago). that is all my candidates, except Dhavernas who does. not. have. an. email. address. listed... I've created a Facebook group, a Facebook Fan page, and emailed Michael Geist, a prominent blogger about Canadian technology issues. Ooh! Facebook group collision. We had the same thought -- I just made a facebook group too. I liked the way your groups looks better, so I changed mine to look like it:

You know, that's a great idea. Candidates in the US used signing on to Change Congress as a press release opportunity, eg. here:

The Facebook group seems to be going strong. Almost 40 people overnight, over a hundred more invited. Wow. We've got the Green Party that is somewhat popular, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around 21 parties. any number of parties can run in an election, many of them will run in just one or a couple of ridings. we have the marxist-leninists, the communists, Christian Heritage Party of Canada, Marijuana Party, the Rhinos, People's Political Power Party of Canada, etc, see:

Are these parties fairly inconsequential -- serving to bring a particular subject to the debates, but not a real part of the power structure of Canadian politics?
