First (municipal) government manager fired for resisting Open Data?

"Former OC Transpo boss Alain Mercier warned as long ago as 2010 that
freely releasing live data on the locations of buses was at odds with
orders he had to make $1.1 million from advertising and sponsorships."

There were other issues but this appears to have been one of them.

I agree: this might well be a watershed moment and perhaps a concerted
effort to connect with the new leadership might be a good idea.
