update from Québec

Michael Lenczner-2
Today Montréal Ouvert participated at an check-in meeting with the
working group that is preparing a report for the city on open data.
The report is set to be delivered early this fall. 30 different people
from the milieu were invited to hear the results of the working group
and they were invited to ask questions and give feedback. We'll write
a blog post later on about it, but the report looks favourable,
including the proposed license. CIPPIC was specifically referenced as
a resource and inspiration for the license. The working group has been
pleasantly surpised by the overwhelmingly positive response they've
gotten so far internally.

Tomorrow, (some of) Montreal Ouvert will be meeting ministers and
bureaucrats in Québec at an event organized on the topic of open-data
by MNA Henri-François Gautrin. That stems from an open-government /
citizen engagement that he created where open data was one of the most
popular proposals (http://www.consultationgautrinweb2.gouv.qc.ca/).

Also tomorrow, the Québec city open-data group
(www.capitaleouverte.org) has their official kick-off. They've already
gotten some love from the press:
