I agree with Catherine that captchas are not generally done right.
Here's what the acronym is supposed to stand for: "Completely
Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart".
Recently, I came accross another service called Bot Bouncer [1] that
supplements the usual image with an audio recording. The services
depends on OpenID [2] but I hope, if we ever add a login to our site
it will use that as a means of dealing with decentralized identities.
