Data and Copyright Letter

Hey gang!

Since bill c-61 (http://www2.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/Publication.aspx?Docid=3570473&file=4) is on its way!  There has been a good article as someone (hugh?) posted earlier in the globe (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20081112.wgtcopyfight1111/BNStory/Technology/home?cid=al_gam_mostrecom).  It also seems that three orgs/individuals are working on this:
Data (census, maps, satellite images, health data, air quality data, scientific data, raw data, geospatial, etc.) are treated differently then the cultural content (flickr photos, podcasts. images, video, mashups, etc.) and DRM is also creeping into the data world (http://www.gcn.com/online/vol1_no1/43515-1.html?topic=geospatial# and even open source geospatial!).

So, I wonder if anyone would be interested in honing some brain power together to draft a letter specific to data?  I am by no means a copyright expert, and I know that Crown Copyright causes lots of problems re - acess to public datasets, but I would be willing to work with a group to put a letter together.

Cheers
t
