Remittances, money sent back home by migrants, have increased ever since data collection started in 1970. After 2000, however, the worldwide total downright skyrocketed from 204 billion USD (inflation adjusted) to 540 billion in 2012. Built with D3.js. Great example of Narrative Walkthrough.
