"This document presents details on the wealth and income distributions in the United States, and explains how we use these two distributions as power indicators." Does anyone know of a similar document (or more likely documents or it might only be out there in the datasets) that present similar information for Canada? Diagrams such as this are particularly compelling: http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/images/wealth/Figure_1.gif http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/images/wealth/Figure_9.gif Thanks, Glen http://zzzoot.blogspot.com/ -- - |
Glenn;
There is no real national social policy think tank left in Canada. That used to be CPRN which like many other scientific groups was shut down under the Tories. There is the Canadian Council on Social Development that is getting rejuvenated that used to do this type of work but they too had their funding cut but the feds. The Federation of Canadian Muncipalities also does something similar but only in Canada's largest cities.
The concepts in Canada are: Income inequality Income gap You will only finds bits and pieces of the document your shared in Canada.

Hi Glenn & Tracey,
Thanks for sharing this! You can find some good stuff on the Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives website, as they lead numerous projects on social inequality in Canada. The reports and video/audio content they produce can be downloaded for the most part and are licensed under Creative Commons. http://www.policyalternatives.ca Cheers, 2011/5/24 Tracey P.
