The following is a set of data sharing guidelines developed by the US
National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) http://www.nsgic.org/about-nsgic. Its focus is primarily geomatics, but since geographers have been the inspiration for the earliest open data and data access initiatives internationally, there is much to learn from this field.
