Hey Morgan;
My old colleague Doug, Canada's place name guys has an answer to your question:
Tracey,
"I saw the word
gazetteer and immediately thought of NRCan and official place names,
etc. But when I looked at the example I realized that he is looking for
statistical information tied to a common, named geography. This is
StatCan. Their common geography (Census Divisions and Sub-Division) is
freely available, as are many of the (2006) census stats tied to this
geography. Are all their stats freely available, or available in a
single form as per the example... I am not sure."
Sorry for the
incomplete answer.
Doug

In my geographically biased opinion, I view the technical information about a nation's places as the basis for all other analysis. The US Census Bureau makes this information available online. Is there a Canadian equivalent to the openly available US Gazatteer data files?
