   So much closed minded ideology and abuse of language.  It was based
on the false notion that there was infringement of copyright involved,
and further that copyright infringement can be analogised to "theft".
The closest legitimate analogy to copyright infringement and tangible
property is trespass, which may or may not cause any harm at all.

   While I can understand the emotions of a grumpy old man yelling
"Kids, get off my lawn", I would be opposed to the law enabling that
whining to turn into jail time.

   Whether I believe what Swartz did was wrong at all doesn't matter.
It was not theft, and even it it was theft it could not justify the
politically motivated attacks the US government levied against him.

   This is about abuse of power for political aims.  Swartz represented
a political philosophy in opposition with the centralising control that
has taken over US politics.
