Re: Working Group - OpenData Standards/Best Practices

Richard Pietro
Hello all,

I think it's fair to say that the more I know, the more I don't know about the VERY extensive background on this subject matter.....The settings so that the GoogleDoc is available for edit, but I do believe at this point it may be best for me to stand back and listen/read attentively :-)

I've already made arrangements with James to help me catch up, but if anyone else would like to offer their 101....I'm all ears :-)

Thanks and have yourselves a great one!

You'll want to consider the Open Knowledge Foundation and the Open
Data Commons as well.  They have already considered some aspects of
Open Data best practices.  Open Data Commons even publish a suite of
licenses for Open Data, so that publishers can select from
internationally recognized data licenses.

A few of us at OpenHalton and OpenHamilton have been doing a fair bit of work on an open data standard for Recreational Activity and Services schedule information. We are based in West GTA hold meet ups in Hamilton as well as a hackathon in the works for next Month in Burlington. The focus will most likely be an app framework and further work on the standard for Rec open data that we are currently exploring with a number of municipalities in Canada.

Would be great to connect with CitizenBridge since you are in TO as well.
