Open North joins the OGP

jn landry
Hi everyone,

We, at Open North, wanted to share some big news with you.

Open North joins the Open Government Partnership to co-lead with Data.gov the standards work stream of the OGP Open Data Working Group co-chaired by the Government of Canada and the World Wide Web Foundation.

We've been given the mandate to evaluate and propose solutions to support the development and implementation of data standards worldwide.

We look forward to the challenge!

Jean-Noé

I concur with others. This is good news.
I wonder if ongoing work will be available publicly. I hope so.
I have been involved, since day 1, with CGSB work (geospatial standards) and information is less open than it should be.

Hi everyone, happy summer.

To the Open North Team - you continue to lead the way in Canada and globally. Truly, keep up the great work and inspire others. Also, I think it is very strategic of OGP to involve scrappy techs like you to deliver inside the group as you do consistently elsewhere.

Thanks Tracey, Herb, Gerry and Heather!

To answer your question Gerry, the Web Foundation (co-chair of the Open Data Working Group) is setting up a web presence for the WG, and the WG is also following up with OGP about having a dedicated space on the OGP website where draft materials can be published. In the meantime, you’ll find a link to the WG’s draft work plan at http://www.opengovpartnership.org/get-involved/join-working-group

The Open Data WG steering committee solicits input from the WG through the [hidden email] mailing list. It is invite-only unfortunately, so you must email the co-chairs to join, Jose M. Alonso <[hidden email]> and Stephen Walker <[hidden email]>, or you can try emailing [hidden email]

Cheers,

James
