Greetings all;
If any of you who are interested in geodata, interoperability, open
specifications and standards, and drm regarding geodata this *Canadian
Interoperability Day
(
http://new.geoconnections.org/en/newsmedia/whatsnew/getDoc=766) is not
a bad place to be to get the lay of the land from a high level policy
and technical point of view on data and technology related to its
presentation and rendering.
Seems like many of the international folks here for the Open Geospatial
Consotium (
http://www.opengeospatial.org/ogc) Meetings also participated
in the OSGEO ( meetings that were in the city at the same time.
Registration is free and can be done here -
http://new.geoconnections.org/en/newsmedia/whatsnew/getDoc=766**Friday, April 20, 2007* at the *Crowne Plaza Hotel (101 Lyon Street)*
from *8:30 a.m. (Registration begins) to 5:00 p.m.*
If can free up your day and are not familiar with this area it i think
be worth your while as some excellent overview will be provided.
Cheers
Tracey
NOTE:CGDI (Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure) is the organization
that has released the free topo data, and their specs are open, free and
they are coming up with some really quite interesting and groundbreaking
licensing agreements for their data
(
http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/site/english/maps/topo/guidelines.html) and
the Geobase Unrestrictured Use License Agreement
(
http://www.geobase.ca/geobase/en/licence.jsp). Very progressive and
precedent setting for a national federal agency,
