Open Data - Micro Brewery?

Tracey P. Lauriault
Now, I am not a beer drinker, but, when asked in cultural geography classes, what makes Canada great, students tend to reply, beer.  I know, there are all kinds of biases built into that response, irrespective, there is something to be said about home brew. And if that is part of what makes Canada great, I see no reason to not have a beautiful visualization of beer rankings and a crowd sourced national scaled beer map of micro breweries and some sort of standardized ranking scheme, developed, well over beers.

Organic beers, a map of where made and sold, beer brewing stories and histories, tall tales of beer induced adventures, beer and Canadian history, maps of the supply chain of hops and water, and so on.  In essence a beer atlas.  I think that would make us all happy when we travel in Canada and it would also make guests happy as along with their back bacon, wild rice, salmon, buffalo burgers and poutine, people can know where to go to savour the plethora of Canadian beers.

It could be a national collaboration, a pub crawl to test and rank and be merry and all that.

Now that we have transit apps that tell us in how many seconds the bus is coming, data about tree rings, I would think the next priority would be an essential micro brewed beer map of Canada!

Just sayin'
