Hi friends -- I'm emailing to invite you to participate in Better Budget Day, on October 19th.
Better Budget Day will bring together individuals and groups from a diverse set of backgrounds, skill sets, and communities to improve Toronto's budget process. With a focus on learning and creative problem solving, the event will build civic capacity around city budget issues and develop solutions that we hope will inform the 2014 Toronto election campaign.
The city budget may represent the most important set of decisions Toronto’s government makes each year. Yet the budget process can be difficult to understand, challenging to engage with, and lacking the kind of vision our great city needs. We at Better Budget T.O. are working on a non-partisan agenda for a better budget process, using tools like better communications, technology, open data, innovative public policy, and leading practices from cities around the world.
Sat, Oct 19, 10a-4p, CSI Annex (720 Bathurst St., S of Bloor)
In addition to some great presenters, there'll be hands-on sessions about participatory budgeting, vision & strategy, public engagement, communications, and technology (apps & data). It'll be a *great* opportunity to meet activists, planners, policymakers, community organizers, designers and technologists who want to work together to improve the City of Toronto's budget process.
I'd be very happy if you can make it, and I'd also appreciate your help in getting the word out.

Thanks, and hope to see you on October 19th!
Gabe
