Hi
Folks,
Thanks
Tracey for inviting me to join this group and now, having done a once over
lightly on the more recent archives, some apologies in advance. The
blogposts below were done without knowing about the very considerable community
data efforts here in Canada and the very a propos discussions on this elist both
of which Tracey has very kindly pointed me to. In discussion with Tracey and
reflecting on my quite considerable discussions on this issue with folks outside
of Canada (and the various comments on my blogposts on this subject) it appears
that Canada may be somewhat unique in having such a well-developed community
data (organizational) infrastructure (which I am hoping can become more widely
known outside of Canada).
So...
Here
is the direct link to Lichtenstein's Wired article on which the Forbes piece was
based
and
here is the direct link to my blogpost on which the Lichtenstein article was
based--we discussed it very extensively over several months (also note the very
extensive and interesting comments...
for a
very recent update on the discussion with additional very interesting
comments including from the Open Knowledge Foundation
Board
and my
additional blogpost reply to the lengthy comments from Peter Murray-Rust of the
OKF (+ more very interesting comments)
Best
to all,
Mike
