I have set up a new forum called Open Data Exchange at
odx.io. I'm writing to tell you about it, and invite you to try it out.
There are already several forums for open data, including this one.
odx.io is meant to address some gaps in the
format of existing forums:
- Longer discussions are hard to do on an email-based listserv. After a few replies, a topic becomes interesting to only a few people, and email clutter becomes a problem for many.
- The format of emails can be hard to read, with quoting of past messages.
- In-depth collaborations are not supported by listeservs.
odx.io uses the next-generation forum software
Discourse. It is built for long complicated discussions that evolve over weeks, months, or longer. There are many features that support constructive discussion, without email clutter. Listen to a CBC
