INSPECTOR GENERAL SHIELDS RECORDS DESCRIBING BRIBERY OF INTERIOR DEPARTMENT
EMPLOYEESBy Michael Ravnitzky , [hidden email]
The U.S. Department of the Interior Office of Inspector General conducted an
investigation of abusive behavior by employees of the agency formerly knownas MMS - Minerals Management Service. This investigation was known as
Island Operating Company et al. A copy of the report dated May 24, 2010 ispublished here:
http://www.doi.gov/oig/reports/upload/IslandOperatingCo.pdf
However, in conducting the investigation, the Inspector General office also
compiled a record of 1281 pages. The result of the eventual production ofthis record was that the majority of pages were either withheld entirely or
blacked out so that no information can be viewed.
This is a surprising outcome, given the severity of the damage due to theDeepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, an incident that occurred
in an environment where MMS employees were being bought off.
Keeping secret the records of such misbehavior that resulted in suchhorrendous consequences should be considered entirely inappropriate. The
best way to correct such a situation is to exhibit interest in this file.
Therefore, I suggest you ask for an electronic copy of this record of 1281pages from:
