More sharing: 3-D objects

Github[1] is a site which - for a developer like me - is primarily a place for people to share software (code).

But it is used to share many other types of digital artifacts.

Today, I learned that it is used to share 3-d objects, and that Github has made a viewer[2] for these objects so you can peruse them in a sensible fashion

Doing a search[3], there are ~15k 3-d digital objects there right now.

That is most interesting. It is new to me but just the other evening I attended some presentations given by "start ups". One group uses 3-D images to create augmented reality viewing for training purposes.

There is some exciting work going on these days.
