Through HRM OpenData initative, developers will get access to the following data that can be used to build apps around:

Crime Statistics 

Points that represent crimes that have occurred in HRM within the last 7 days. Includes the type of crime, the date of the crime and the general location (the location of the point is not the true location of the crime, but a generalization to protect the victims).

Civic Addresses
Points representing the geographic location of civic addresses that includes civic number, street name and community information. 
Street Network 
Single line representation of every street in HRM with associated street name, block face ranges and community names.

Community Boundaries 
Geographic outlines (polygons) of all of the official community boundaries within HRM.

Bus Routes 
Single line representations of all bus routes in HRM. Includes route number, route name and route classification (e.g. peak, weekday regular, etc.)

Bus Stops
Points representing the geographic location of Metro Transit bus stops. Includes information on the type of bus stop (shelter, accessible, etc.) and GOTIME number.

Transit Scheduling Data 
Metro Transit bus scheduling information, released in Google Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) format.

Building Footprints
Geographic outlines (polygons) that represent two-dimensional buildings.

Building Symbols 
Points representing the geographic location of specific building use types (e.g. fire stations, police stations, schools, community centres, etc.).

HRM Parks 
Geographic outlines (polygons) that represent developed and undeveloped HRM park land. This data set includes parks at the neighbourhood, community, district and regional level. 

HRM Park Recreation 
Features Points representing the geographic location of recreational features that are owned or maintained by HRM (e.g. playgrounds, sports fields, boat facilities, outdoor rinks, etc.).

Trails 
Single line representations of trails that are either owned, maintained, or of interest to HRM.

Polling 
District Boundaries Geographic outlines (polygons) that represent the polling districts as approved by the Nova Scotia Utility And Review Board (UARB). Includes the current councillor and the school board district information.

Solid Waste Collection Areas 
Geographic outlines (polygons) that represent the solid waste (garbage and recycling) collection areas. Includes the current contractor, day of the week for collection and collection frequency.

Zoning Boundaries 
Geographic outlines (polygons) that represent the land use zone applied to a particular area of land within a land use bylaw (LUB) area. Zoning designations differ between LUB areas, so each zone must be interpreted within the context of the LUB area in which it is applied.

Bylaw Areas 
Geographic outlines (polygons) that represent the land use bylaw areas within HRM. To be used in conjunction with the zoning boundaries for correct interpretation of the zone code.

LIDAR 
DEM 5m A digital elevation model (DEM) that shows the topography of the land. This DEM is what is called a bare earth model; in that the elevation model is representative of the land without taking into account the trees and buildings.
