Good day, Civic Access people!
You probably don't know me, as I've been an invisible subscriber to the list for a couple of years now. I thought I could find someone here interested in an event we organize here at Champlain College Lennoxville next spring (that's in the Sherbrooke, QC area).
Each year, Champlain College's International Studies committee organizes a sympsium on a particular theme. Students registered in International Studies can present their research and attend interesting conferences. The event is also opened and publicized to the whole Champlain College / Bishop's University community (we share campus).
As this year's theme is social activism, we thought it would be great to invite a speaker concerned with Communication Rights, Information Rights, or any other form of Media/Tech Activism (e.g. initiatives conducted in Canada - either at the local, provincial or national level - could be presented, and/or contrasted with what happens in other countries). You don't have to be an academic to present at this symposium. You can talk about advocacy, research, community projects you've been involved in, etc. Before I forget to mention it, Champlain is an english-speaking College.
If you're willing to participate, or you know someone who would, please let me know!
Thanks for your time,
Nicolas Lecomte
