MEDIA ADVISORY— Open
Data Ottawa with Ladies Learning Code and the City of Ottawa host Hacking Day
of Learning
Community groups and
data experts come to City Hall to learn with Ottawans how to make the best use
of the city’s open data.
OTTAWA—Open Data Ottawa is hosting a day of learning in
Ottawa on December 8th.
Trailing the success of Ottawa Transit Data Day and the
“Better Neighbours Through Open Data” hackathon, Open Data Ottawa is hosting a
day of learning for citizens who wants to work with open data called Learn Hack YOW.
Half of the day will be spent in learning sessions, and the
other half meeting data curators from the city and hacking on projects.
When: December 8th, 2012, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Where: Ottawa City Hall, Champlain Room (110 Laurier Avenue West)
Who: Ottawa’s open data community; city representatives.
What: A half-day of open data learning, and a half-day of discussions and
project work.
Community experts include Luke Closs, an open data
entrepreneur; Amanda Shendruk of Aesthetic Intelligence brought to you by Ladies
Learning Code; Edward Ocampo-Gooding and Daniel Beauchamp, technical experts
from Shopify and Thomas Gohard, an expert on mobile web usability. Organizers
and experts will be available for questions during the event.
