Hello!
My name is Christopher Ritter. I'm a User Experience Designer from the United States and the owner of CivicAccess.us.
I've been passionate about Open Government for many years but have recently begun thinking about a new way to bring the idea to the American People -- by seeing Government Access as a Civil Right versus arguing the benefits of Citizen being able to directly represent themselves across every branch of the United States Government.
From my perspective, Civic Access does not simply define a Philosophy, or even stop short as a Right, but also includes a specific framework on which to build an Open Source project that allows people to access and manage their civic information. While I'm still new to CivicAccess.ca, I've not been able to locate a specific software effort to enable Civic Access.
Is CivicAccess.ca looking to design or currently developing an Open Source solution?
Also, I belong to another Open Government called Metagovernment. We've got a lot of great developers from around the world working on Open Source voting solutions, as well as members from other Open Government projects like DemocracyLab.org. If anyone is interested in more information please ask!
Finally, the guys behind Democracy Lab have shared a request from an Indian Development Company who is looking to support an Open Source project with development, documentation, testing, and support. If we're talking about developing a Civic Access application, I would be happy to share this information as well!
