Getting into dropshipping business

Maruw
Guys, I'm thinking about trying my hand at dropshipping. From what I understand, it's this model where you're basically selling someone else's product with your own markup on top. Sounds simple enough on paper, right? But I only know the surface level stuff and I want to dig deeper before I jump in. What are the actual risks here? What kind of pitfalls should I watch out for? And honestly, is this business model even relevant anymore in 2026, or has the market gotten too saturated? Should I even bother getting into this whole thing?

The thing about dropshipping is everyone sees the success stories on YouTube and thinks it's easy money. Three months later half those people are sitting on a dead store wondering what went wrong. Margins are thin because you're competing with thousands of other sellers pushing the exact same products from the same suppliers. Customer service becomes a nightmare when shipping takes forever and you have zero control over quality. One bad batch from your supplier and your reviews tank.

Any business model looks golden until you're knee-deep in the actual work and realize there's way more to it than the highlight reel. Dropshipping can work but you need to know what you're walking into before you spend money on ads and inventory connections. You can read about dropshipping 101 here https://easync.io/articles/dropshipping-101/ . Breaks down how the model actually functions day to day, what margins you can realistically expect, and where people typically mess up. Goes through supplier relationships, customer expectations, and whether the numbers even make sense for someone starting fresh today.
