FYI, and also hoping some people on this list could help out Jim.
Cheers,

Hi WoC'ers!
MapTogether (a project I work on) just released our first public version
of our free "Illustrated Guide to Nonprofit GIS and Online Mapping" this
week. It's 46 pages chock full of cartography for a cause!
http://maptogether.org/nonprofit-mappingIt's version 0.99 which means we're hoping to add some more resources
and make it a living document. If you have resource suggestions (tools,
data sets, documentation links, etc.), please email me off-list or
submit them via the maptogether.org website. Our US-centric team could
definitely use some help from our brothers and sisters to the North when
it comes to navigating Canadian government data sources ("I know what a
riding is, but where are their red states and blue states?" :-)
Best wishes,
Jim
