Dear Tracey P.,
Public science is essential for keeping Canadians safe, healthy and prosperous. However, in recent years, the public science landscape in Canada has changed dramatically.
Are federal cutbacks to research programs depriving Canadians of essential information? What should be the focus public research? Should government scientists be able to communicate directly with the public?
Evidence for Democracy and Carleton University’s Graduate Students’ Association will be hosting a panel discussion on Thursday, March 12th to discuss the changing state of public science in Canada.
I’ll be moderating a panel of Canadian science stakeholders including:
- Mike De Souza: Investigative Resources Correspondent - Reuters News Agency
- Emily Norgang: Senior Researcher - Canadian Labour Congress
- Jake Rice: National Senior Ecosystem Advisor - Department of Fisheries and Oceans
And there will be plenty of time for your questions.
When: Thursday, March 12th, 7:00PM
Where: Carleton University, MacOdrum Library, Room 252
You can find more information about the event here.
I look forward to seeing you there!
