Government of Canada Open Data Consultation. The Federal Government is soliciting public feedback on their new Open Data strategy until January 16th at the Open Data Canada website. The Program website offers an on-line forum for members to share views and respond to news releases; join the discussion by clicking here.
The Community Data Program is a national network of over 20 community data consortia. The 400+ member organizations with 1000+ users include municipalities, local police, school and library boards, social planning councils, health and family service agencies, United Way chapters and other organizations working across Canada in support of local development. The Program has been serving the community through access to small area data & tools, training & capacity building, and sharing results of local data analysis for over 15 years. Making It Count! is a new quarterly newsletter offered to registered users of the CCSD Community Data Program and organizations working with community data. Every three months, we'll send you the scoop on what's happening in the world of municipal and neighbourhood data. Showcasing innovative uses of program data, highlighting upcoming training and special events and passing along the latest news on new data and tools, Making It Count! connects data users to the resources you need.
Community Data Product Profile: ENVISION
January 16, 1 pm EST, join fellow Community Data Program users for a demo of Envision software by Environics Analytics. The powerful on-line tool needs only a few minutes to create customer profiles, custom maps, executive summaries, and rankings using community data from multiple sources. Following the presentation, take advantage of the unique opportunity to log in yourself and test out the product! Email [hidden email] if you would like to join the demo. This is one of the new products from the private sector being considered for the next community data cycle.
Community Data Canada Update
A diverse range of organizations measure and monitor community trends, but enjoy few opportunities to come together and discuss shared interests and initiatives. Chaired by the CCSD, Community Data Canada is a national forum for collaboration among Canadian governments, community organizations and the private sector in support of improved access to and use of small area data for decision making. Community Data Canada hosts an annual roundtable on a particular topic (click here for presentations from the 2011 and 2010 Roundtable. Plans for a third annual Community Data Roundtable are in the works for Spring 2012. All will be invited to participate in this free, full-day webinar.

Opportunity for Funding
The TD Financial Literacy Grant Fund is now accepting applications for its fourth round of grants. The deadline for submitting applications is February 2, 2012. Charitable and nonprofit organizations interested in applying for grants are encouraged to review the Fund’s guidelines and application form available at www.sedi.org/grantfund.
