Subject: Invitation: Science Matters panel discussion
Evidence for Democracy
Hello Warren,
We have an exciting event happening in Ottawa this week and would like to invite you to participate online. We will be live streaming the event on our website:
https://evidencefordemocracy.ca/sciencematters.
On the eve of the release of award-winning author Chris Turner‘s new book “The War on Science: Muzzled Scientists and Wilful Blindness in Stephen Harper's Canada”, Evidence for Democracy is bringing together an expert panel to discuss a number of critical issues affecting the health of public-interest science in Canada.
Panelists include:
Chris Turner, award-winning Canadian Author and journalist. Author of the bestsellers, "The Geography of Hope: A Tour of the World We Need" and "The Great Leap: How to Survive and Thrive in the Sustainable Economy".
Michael Halpern, Program Manager for the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists in the U.S.
Dr. Rees Kassen, Professor of Biology and University Research Chair in Experimental Evolution at the University of Ottawa, Co-chair of the Global Young Academy and former chair of the Partnership Group for Science and Engineering (PAGSE).
Dr. Patrick Fafard, Associate professor in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa and a member of the Institute for Science, Society and Policy.
We will also be posting a full video online a few days after the event.
I hope you can tune in!
