The Data Liberation Initiative people did not have answers and I suspect the article was unexpected by StatCan. At the DLI bootcamp in the spring (

As discussed on the phone I am inquiring about the Embassy Magazine article: Statistics Canada to make all online data free (

In relation to this information in that article I would like more details on the following:
a) are geographic files included?
b) would this include census tract and dissemination area data?
c) how will the data be shared? Beyond 2020 files will all geo & data? Other format?
c) will postal code files be included?
d) is the licence being referred to in the article the
http://www.data.gc.ca/default.asp?lang=En&n=46D15882-1 ? If not what will it be?
f) if it is this licence will it also cover geographic and postal code files? If not will the other licence cover geo and postal code files?
g) what of custom order data? Will there still be a cost? If so will the data be under the same licence?
Because this is a timely story, the sooner the information circulates the better. It is being actively discussed on twitter as well as the blogosphere and in many lists.
