As part of our efforts to promote more democratic and representative media systems in Canada, we at Media Democracy Days have supported a series of events in Vancouver called FreshMedia – events which celebrate innovation and independent media, and work hard to help us re-imagine media and journalism.

Next Thursday, May 16th, FreshMedia will host ReMix This! A Copyright Cabaret. This will be a multi-media event and community conversation with artists, storytellers, experts and YOU on copyright in the digital age. Learn all about the new opportunity we have now to re-imagine a fair deal for creators and users. Join the hilarious duo of Deep Rogue Ram, Heather Libby and Kai Nagata, to rethink copyright so that it fosters a diverse culture of remixing, sharing and creating.

Save your spot for this highly anticipated event now! RSVP here!

Who owns what you create and share? Does copyright function as creative incentive or control? How can we reimagine copyright to unlock the possibilities of the open Internet? These questions and more will be explored at ReMix This! – we hope you’ll join us to hear some of the answers.
