RHoK Vancouver, presented by EMC!

This weekend PeaceGeeks is hosting the first edition of Random Hacks of Kindness (RHoK, pronounced "rock") to ever take place in Vancouver! RHoK is a global event happening simultaneously in over 30 cities around the world with thousands of participants. It's hackers, programmers, developers and designers volunteering for a 2-day hackathon to solve technology challenges faced by local and international non-profits and charities. It's Hacking for Humanity and it's changing the world!

RHoK Vancouver, presented by EMC kicks off Friday, November 30th at 6:30pm with a reception at The HiVE (128 W Hastings). The projects will be pitched and teams formed to take on each challenge. All day hacking will take place Saturday, December 1st & Sunday, December 2nd at GrowLab (128 W Hastings). On Sunday, a panel of judges will select a winning team. Free meals, snacks, beer and coffee will be provided to participants, and everyone has a chance to win prizes.

We now have 8 projects submitted and over 50 people signed up, and we welcome more participants in the following areas:

  • Development/ programming (web, software, apps, games)
  • Graphic design (web, games, apps, user interface, user experience)
  • Project analyst (project managers, analysts, quality assurance testers, process mappers)
