East Science Sector (ESS) provides no fee access to Digital Topo Data

This is the result of the work of Map librarians, in particular

Carleton University MADGIC (Maps and Data and Government Information

Tracey and all,

Is this as important as it seems...

One of the major restrictions on community based GIS development in Canada
has been the cost of getting access to the base maps on which community
GIS could be built. (as compared to free access in the US which strongly
stimiulated GIS development (and not just community GIS) there as compared
to in Canada.)

Does this meant that those basemaps are now freely accessible.
