Hello Civic Access,
As some of you may recall, I have been hounding the BC government, since 2002 (when I was hired as the Population Analyst for BC Stats), to make public the real methods used to create population numbers. These numbers are used to justify opening and closing public and private facilities, including schools, hospitals, and to plan electrical generation, transportation needs, as well as setting municipal insurance fees, ElectionsBC's provincial electoral districts, etc..
After a decade of not publicizing the many changes to the methods used to create population numbers, the BC Provincial Government, Ministry of Labour and Citizens' Services has finally allowed the 2011 methods to be published. Of course, it took a change in Premier and new management at BC Stats, but finally an effort is being made by government to be OPEN.
Here is the article and letter I sent to BC Stats, Ministry of Labour and Citizens' Services describing some of the information missing from the 2011 publication.

The next step is to have the government allow verification of the methods used to create the numbers.
Pass this on to people who may be interested in making sure the government provides reliable information.
For a list and links to the letters I sent to the BC Government, the Freedom of Information Commissioner, and many others, go to … http://www.wminfomatics.com/WP/home.html
Step by step.
Sincerely,
Warren Munroe
