Civicaccess-discuss list archive and Nabble -> Unlocking the info in the civicaccess-discuss list archive

Marcus Johansen
Hi All:

This is a great list with lots of of useful information, ideas and discussions. I enjoy reading it.

I mostly browse the civicaccess list archive as it allows me to sort emails by by thread, author or dates.

You can see the archive at http://lists.pwd.ca/pipermail/civicaccess-discuss/2012-June/thread.html

However there is no search capability and the emails are broken out by month so it difficult to quickly browse and/or locate to content you want to read.

One way to make it easier to browse, locate and read email posts is to use a site called Nabble http://www.nabble.com to create a forum from the email archives.

"With Nabble you can archive your mailing list to a fully functional forum at Nabble by filling out a form. This makes it easy for users to browse and search archived emails. Users can even post to the Nabble forum and we will forward these posts to your mailing list. "
From http://n6.nabble.com/archive-your-mailing-list.html

An example of Nabble powered archived email list forum is http://osgeo-org.1560.n6.nabble.com/

This forum was created by and for OSGeo.org -> "The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) supports a community which develops high quality open source geospatial software, data, and education resources."

Nabble is free and would unlock all those wonderful thoughts, ideas and discussions from the civicaccess-discuss email archives.

All thoughts, ideas, flames all welcomed!

Cheers
