Canada chops employment insurance staff, leaving jobless in the lurch

Honestly, particularly for the Harper government and its provincial and
municipal clones, the argument that they might delay Open Data initiatives
until they are in a better position to implement "effective use" provisions
or whatever is completely specious and anyone who makes the argument that
one shouldn't put forward "effective use"  initiatives because it might
somehow delay or prevent open data actions is buying into that speciosity :)

If there is political advantage for them including pandering to their
ideological base (as in restricting access to EI information as above)
they'll do it and if there isn't any advantage they won't, so my argument is
if you are going to be faced with playing that game in any case, why not be
on the side of the angels/democracy and inclusion...
