The government has cut Canada's food inspection agency,
many food inspectors have been let go, and with there being horse and what not meat scandal in the UK, it makes you wonder if we have the same issue here, and what would happen if discoveries were made that were similar to those in the UK, what would happen to our meat industry if that were so, and how would the Government look if it were not capable of carrying out inspections because it cut the inspection agency. Just sayin' this sounds like a great Citizen Science project |
Here are some links to the cuts

And if there are any on the list and had a few extra minutes, I would
love to know a little bit more about you - you know, what a citizen meat inspector does on an average day, how you are different from rogue meat inspectors, etc. On Wed, Feb 13, 2013 at 12:01 PM, Tracey P. What about a mobile app that lets citizens send reports/photos about meat quality
from their neighbourhood restaurants and butchers. Some ideas for the name of the app: What's in that bun
The Carnivore's dilemma Inspecteur Tartare (Just in case: this is intended only as a joke, there are many reasons such an app is a really bad idea.)

MicroBEnet - citizen microbiology with a focus on germs - might be an interesting model:
