Hi Tracey,
Aid Data formerly Aida is a project initially based out of the Work Bank's Global Development Gateway project. It's been around for 10 years. Bellanet c/o IDRC in Ottawa helped to establish the first XML schema for sharing aid data known as IDML or International Development Markup Language used by Aid Data. Aid Data has been and probably still is the largest repository of development project information including all of the OCED/DAC project data. Many of those lessons morphed into what is now IATI which will soon become the Busan Common Standard. CIDA as you probably know has plans to share their data in the IATI format. Aid Data and the Open Aid Partnership as doing some excellent work on geolocation data, and these lessons are being incorporated into the updated IATI standard.
