Governments and information are like the fox in the hen house

The Munroes

It is important to understand the role of  "official" statistics in relation to "political" belief since reliable information, gained using scientific techniques in an effort to remove preconceived ideas in favour of reality, is a fundamental cornerstone to making policies, planning, implementation, monitoring, review, and further refinement.

Superimposing world views on the creation of official statistics without informing users of the information is a sign not only of political decay but also of societal decay.

Therefore, it is incumbent on citizens to raise awareness of decay, including manipulation and corruption of official statistics, in an effort to ensure quality.

The provincial election in BC is on May 12, 2009. Please help spread the word and encourage people to ask how the "official" Population statistics are created. For example, ask, Does BC Stats move the error from the GVRD to areas where there are no analysts to ensure quality? Will the BC Stats allow independent statisticians see how the numbers are created? Will the Director of BC Stats participate in an open and public debate on how BC Stats creates Population numbers?

For an overview of political corruption see... http://www.wminfomatics.com/WP/Discrime.html

Rather than listening to the spin by extremists, let's see the source of the numbers tossed around, and the survey, and the results, and please allow us to verify the numbers so that we can see the strengths and weaknesses of the interpretations for ourselves.

Unfortunately, it appears as though there is an effort being made by tax funded organizations to block access to how the numbers are created making it difficult for people at the local level to participate as informed and consulted citizen's rather than ill informed and easily led subjects.
